TerraGrid Privacy Policy

Short version: TerraGrid does not collect, store, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Your location never leaves your device.

1. Data we collect

None. TerraGrid has no servers and no user accounts. We do not collect, transmit, or process any personal information, usage data, crash reports, device identifiers, or location data. The app's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".

2. Location

TerraGrid uses your device's location to show your position, grid coordinates (MGRS, UTM, USNG and others), heading, elevation, and distances to waypoints. Location is processed entirely on your device and is used only while the app is in use, or during a track recording that you explicitly start and stop. Location is never sent to us or to any third party.

3. Camera and photos

The camera is used for the augmented-reality waypoint finder and for grid-stamped field photos. Photos you take are saved to your own photo library, with coordinates embedded in the image metadata (EXIF) if you choose. Camera frames are processed on-device and are never uploaded.

4. iCloud

Waypoints, routes, and tracks are stored on your device. If you enable iCloud sync or team sharing, that data is stored in your personal iCloud account and shared only with people you invite, using Apple's CloudKit service. We have no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

5. Map tiles

Map imagery is provided by Apple Maps and, for optional offline map downloads, by OpenStreetMap tile servers. When map tiles are requested, those providers receive standard network information such as your IP address and the map area being viewed, in accordance with their own privacy policies. TerraGrid adds no identifiers to these requests.

6. Siri, Shortcuts, widgets and Apple Watch

Siri requests such as "What's my grid?" are handled by Apple on-device or through Apple's services under Apple's privacy policy. Widgets, Live Activities and the Apple Watch app read the same on-device data as the main app and do not transmit anything.

7. On-device AI assistant

On supported devices, the optional field assistant runs entirely on-device using Apple Intelligence foundation models. Your prompts and location are not sent to us or to any cloud service.

8. Exports

GPX, KML, CSV and PDF files you export are created on-device and shared only where you choose to send them.

9. Children

TerraGrid is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
